Producer and social media master DJ Khaled is using his platform for good by helping launch a never-before program that uses apps like Snapchat to engage students in higher education. Khaled has collaborated with BET Networks and Get Schooled, a national nonprofit geared toward advancing student achievement, in creating a four-part campaign aimed at helping high school seniors accessible support during the college application process.
The campaign will host more than 20 Snapchat college tours on different campuses, including Howard University, UCLA and University of Pennsylvania. This way, students who otherwise wouldn’t have access to visits can see which campus suits them best. “I am excited that I can advise college students on how to give the best Snapchat college tours so students can share college life with high school kids who are eager to know more about campuses when deciding where to apply,” DJ Khaled said in a press release. “This is a major KEY so the youth can make the right choices and succeed.”
The campaign will also utilize Personal Statement Coaching to give students writing feedback, College Advisor Text Sessions and College Knowledge Information badges to help guide students through their college careers. With the DJ Khaled approval, Get Schooled is expected to help 100,000 high school seniors succeed in college.
